Bichess is built around a shared passion for chess. We believe that a great chess community requires respect, sportsmanship, and fair competition. Every player — beginner or grandmaster — deserves a positive experience on our platform.

Treat all members of the Bichess community with courtesy and respect. This applies in chat, during games, and in any other platform interaction. Constructive feedback and healthy competition are welcome; hostility is not.

When using any in-platform communication feature, you must:

• Use respectful and appropriate language at all times.
• Avoid sending repetitive messages or flooding any chat channel.
• Refrain from sharing personal information about yourself or others.
• Not promote external services, websites, or spam.

Good sportsmanship is fundamental to the Bichess experience:

• Always complete games you start — do not abandon games without reason.
• Resign gracefully when the position is clearly lost.
• Avoid stalling or deliberately playing slowly to frustrate opponents.
• Respect the game result, whether you win or lose.

If you witness behavior that violates these guidelines, please use the in-platform reporting feature to alert our moderation team. All reports are reviewed confidentially. False or abusive reports themselves violate these guidelines.

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

• A formal warning issued by the moderation team.
• Temporary muting or restriction of communication features.
• Temporary suspension from the platform.
• Permanent account termination for serious or repeated violations.
