Acceptable Use Policy

Bichess is designed to be a fair, competitive, and respectful chess environment. This Acceptable Use Policy ('AUP') describes the behaviors we prohibit on the platform. Violations may result in warnings, account restrictions, or permanent bans.

The use of any external chess engine, computer assistance, or automated analysis tool during a rated game is strictly prohibited. Bichess employs sophisticated detection systems to identify suspicious patterns. Confirmed cheating results in a permanent account closure.

You may not use Bichess to send unsolicited messages, flood game challenges, or exploit platform features in ways not intended by their design. Automated scripts interacting with the platform without authorization are forbidden.

All users must treat each other with respect. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

• Harassment, intimidation, or threats directed at other users.
• Hate speech based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or sexual orientation.
• Sending obscene, offensive, or illegal content through any platform channel.
• Impersonating another user, moderator, or Bichess staff member.

Creating multiple accounts to evade bans, manipulate ratings, or gain unfair advantages is prohibited. Users may only maintain one active Bichess account at a time unless explicitly authorized.

Automated accounts (bots) are not permitted to participate in matchmaking or rated games unless they are part of Bichess's official bot program. Any attempt to use automation to gain an unfair advantage or scrape data will result in account termination.

You may not use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from Bichess at scale. Doing so without prior written consent violates our Terms of Service and may violate applicable laws.

Bichess reserves the right to take the following actions in response to AUP violations:

• Verbal or written warning via the platform.
• Temporary restriction of account features.
• Permanent account suspension or termination.
• Legal action where appropriate.
