These rules define what we expect from every member of our community.
Bichess is designed to be a fair, competitive, and respectful chess environment. This Acceptable Use Policy ('AUP') describes the behaviors we prohibit on the platform. Violations may result in warnings, account restrictions, or permanent bans.
The use of any external chess engine, computer assistance, or automated analysis tool during a rated game is strictly prohibited. Bichess employs sophisticated detection systems to identify suspicious patterns. Confirmed cheating results in a permanent account closure.

You may not use Bichess to send unsolicited messages, flood game challenges, or exploit platform features in ways not intended by their design. Automated scripts interacting with the platform without authorization are forbidden.

All users must treat each other with respect. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

Creating multiple accounts to evade bans, manipulate ratings, or gain unfair advantages is prohibited. Users may only maintain one active Bichess account at a time unless explicitly authorized.

Automated accounts (bots) are not permitted to participate in matchmaking or rated games unless they are part of Bichess's official bot program. Any attempt to use automation to gain an unfair advantage or scrape data will result in account termination.

You may not use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from Bichess at scale. Doing so without prior written consent violates our Terms of Service and may violate applicable laws.
